PLFA Congress 2018 Behind Us

After postponing the PLFA Congress 2018, the Congress finally materialised on the 14th of April 2018. The Congress is now behind us.

The new Executive Committee that was elected from this Congress would like to thank all the association's members who contributed to making this Congress a success. The committee also thanks the previous Executive Committee for working hard to making this a reality. Would also like to thank the City of Tshwane (Pulane and Gontse) for assisting with the electoral function, not only delivering the elections as per the Constitutional directives, but doing so in class. Lastly, the committee also thanks the distinguished guests who attended and made immense contribution during the Congress. Three of those guests are on the above picture, these being Mr Neelan Chetty, Regional Executive Officer from SAFA Tshwane (pictured second from left on back row), Mr. Kgoroshi Mashifane, Chairperson of the Mamelodi Local Football Association (pictured second from right on back row), and Mr. Soso Mashiloane, Treasurer of SAFA Tshwane (pictured far right, back row).

The newly elected Executive Committee is as follows:

1. Sizwe Nkosi - Chairperson (far right, front row);

2. Setumo Kgotyane - 1st Vice Chairperson (third from right, back row);

3. Sheila Lehlabi - 2nd Vice Chairperson (second front right, from row);

4. Kelebogile Lefiedi - 3rd Vice Chairperson (second from left, front row);

5. Ngoako Mohlabeng - Secretary (third from left, back row);

6. Themba Nkabinde - Vice Secretary (far left, front row); and

7. Richard Sithole - Treasurer (far left, back row).

This committee will serve for a term of four years, expiring in 2022.

The committee will meet within the next seven to commence the operations of association. This will be mainly to discuss the roles of each executive member, the reporting mechanism, the appointment of the Additional Members, and fixing the date of the Extra-ordinary Congress that was referred to at the Ordinary Congress. The outcome of this meeting will be published through this platform (in addition to the minutes).

In the meantime, will Nkabinde will take over the Administrative function from Mr. Ntuli, who was holding the fort since the resignation of the previous Administrator. Mr. Nkabinde will run with the Administration function going forward. This takeover exercise should be completed and administration services through Mr Nkabinde should be ready as from Tuesday the 18th of April 2018.

We are looking at having the Referees Forum Meeting starting in earnest on the 23rd of April 2018, Leagues and Competitions Forum Meeting on the 24th, and Coaches Forum on the 25th. Affiliates are therefore urged to prepare the delegates for these meetings. That is, at least three for the Referees Forum, one for the Leagues and Competitions Forum, and at least one for the Coaches forum.

We note with caution that the affiliates who participate in higher leagues are not fully on board on the activities of the association. The Executive Committee will discuss this matter and come up with a way forward to forge more corporation between the association and these affiliates. It is in the best interest of football that the needs of these affiliates be understood, catered for, and for the affiliates to start participating more in the activities and events of the association.

Once more, we thank you for your support throughout 2017/18. We look forward to working with you going forward.

Thank you.
